CultureFest DMV at National Harbor Will Celebrate The Sounds Of International music

Whether your feet move to the sounds of Reggae, or the rhythms of Soca gets your hips shaking from left to right, mixed in with the elements of Afrobeat, it’s no doubt you’re in for a great dance party and a celebration of music. On September 11, National Harbor will be the destination for CultureFest DMV.
Starting at 1:00 pm; CultureFest DMV will feature dynamic live performances by international Reggae, Soca and Afrobeat artists, food court, craft village and numerous bars offering exotic drinks by expert mixologists. It’s a festival of culture. This festival is an expressive forum to celebrate diversity through music, art, food, and more. It will bridge the divides of multicultural traditions and bring communities together.
The history of Soca is the genre of music defined by Lord Shorty, its inventor, as the Soul of Calypso, African and East Indian rhythms. Legendary artist Bob Marley who brought Reggae to mainstream, is a music genre that originated in Jamaica. Afrobeat is a music genre that involves the combination of elements of West African musical styles such as fuji music and highlife with
American jazz and later soul and funk influences. These sounds will be featured at the event by such artists such as, Elephant Man, Kes the Band and Patrice Roberts. CultureFest DMV is also about community. Showcasing traditions and values. It’s an opportunity for a peaceful coexistence and mutual respect between different cultures inhabiting the same planet.
The festival will take place at the South Pointe location within the National Harbor grounds. It’s an all-in-one destination situated on the banks of the historic Potomac River, just minutes from the nation’s capital.
