Movies on The Potomac Returns to National Harbor in May

Featuring Date Night Movies on Thursdays and Family Night Movies on Sundays through September

National Harbor brings back its popular Movies on the Potomac series from May 1 through September 30. Every Thursday (“date night”) at 7 p.m. and Sunday (“family night”) at 6 p.m. guests are invited to gather in front of the Plaza Screen on the waterfront to watch recent releases and classic films. Movie goers are encouraged to bring chairs and order take-out from one of the many restaurants right around the plaza.

Each month features movies of a set theme. May is all about animal movies and includes favorites such as Best in Show, Dream Horse, Jaws and Must Love Dogs on Thursdays. Sunday May movies feature Babe, 101 Dalmatians, The Secret Life of Pets, and Lion King. June is travel movies with Thursday movies: What About Bob, The Bucket List, The Terminal, Crazy Rich Asians and Under the Tuscan Sun; Sunday June movies include The Parent Trap, Hotel Transylvania 3, Are We There Yet, and The Great Outdoors. July food movies include on Thursdays: Julie & Julia, The Hundred-Foot Journey, The Founder and No Reservations; Sunday movies include Lady and the Tramp, Ratatouille, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach. August is musicals month with Yesterday, Singin’ in the Rain, In the Heights and Hairspray on Thursdays; Newsies, Nanny McPhee, Annie and The Jungle Book on Sundays. September is America themed and includes Argo, 42, Apollo 13 and The Gabby Douglas Story on Thursdays; An American Tail, Miracle, American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story, A League of Their Own and Minari on Sundays.

“We are so excited that Sunday movies are back this year,” said Jackie Saunders, AVP of marketing at National Harbor. “It’s a great activity for families and friends and the perfect opportunity to gather on the waterfront on Thursdays and Sundays.”
