The Masterpiece Of An Exceptional English Playwright
Shakespeare In The Parks Tour: The Tempest At Montpelier House Museum Grounds
Undoubtedly, William Shakespeare is considered one of the greatest playwrights in history. Now, Prince George’s County is offering an opportunity to delve into a live performance of one of his masterpieces.
Visitors and admirers of Shakespeare alike can experience a modern take on a Shakespearean tale. The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission's Arts and Cultural Heritage Division has announced its ten-year anniversary celebration tour with the show that started it all, The Tempest, directed by founding Artistic Director Christopher Dwyer.
On their website, they offer a brief description of the show’s plot: “This 1980s-infused tale follows Prospero, stranded on a deserted island in the Mediterranean with his daughter Miranda, who narrowly escapes his evil brother. He now comes to grips with a life he left behind and whether to enact revenge on his brother who has just washed up on shore. Complete with magic, faeries, and physical storytelling, this fast-paced 90-minute outdoor adventure is perfect for the entire family. Bring your lawn chair, and a picnic, and enjoy the Bard under the stars.”
The event takes place on Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. It will occur at the Montpelier House Museum at 9650 Muirkirk RoadLaurel, MD, 20708.
