A New Play Set In Prince George’s
County Serves As Backdrop To A Unique Class Reunion Gathering
“The Comeuppance” is coming to D.C.
At the Woolly Mammoth Theater, 641 D St NW, Washington, D.C.
The Comeuppance, a play set in Prince George’s County, by playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, comes to the Wooly Mammoth Theater this fall.
On the night of their 20th high school reunion, the self-proclaimed “Multi-Ethnic Reject Group” reconnects while they pregame in Prince George’s County, Maryland. But amid the flow of reminiscing, an otherworldly presence forces these former classmates to face the past head-on and reckon with an unknowable future.
The New York Times called Jacobs-Jenkins “one of this country’s most original and illuminating writers,” and designated “The Comeuppance” a Critic’s Pick during its New York run. The D.C show will feature Woolly Mammoth’s Jon Hudson Odom and Erika Rose, in collaboration with The Wilma’s HotHouse.
Wooly Mammoth theater is hosting a Prince George’s County night Thursday, September 12, offering tickets for $30. The Comeuppance will run from September 8 to October 6.
