The Prince George's County High School Annual Baseball Championship Game pits the winner of the 4A League Championship against the 1A, 2A, and 3A League Champions. It is the best small school vs. the best of the county's largest schools. On May 6, 2025, the 2A Gwynn Park Yellow Jackets squared off against the 4A Bowie Bulldogs.
Aided by a four-run second inning, the Yellow Jackets held off Bowie 7 - 4. Gwynn Park's pitching faced the heart of Bowie's order multiple times, and each time, they found ways to make solid contact. Had the Jackets' outfield not pulled off one web gem after another, the game could have easily turned into a Bulldog victory. The outfield's incredible defensive plays were a significant difference in keeping the Bulldogs at bay. The Jackets also missed several opportunities to extend their lead, adding to the tension. This combination of missed chances and stellar defensive plays contributed to one of the most thrilling games of the year.
