County, Braveboy Recognize Home-Grown Super Bowl Champ Olusegun Oluwatimi

Prince George’s County paused to celebrate one of its own as County Executive Aisha Braveboy honored Super Bowl champion Olusegun Oluwatimi in a special ceremony recognizing both his athletic excellence and his deep local roots.
Held on March 25, 2026, at the Wayne K. Curry Administration Building in Largo, the event brought together community leaders, residents, and members of the DeMatha Catholic High School football team to applaud Oluwatimi’s remarkable journey from Prince George’s County standout to NFL champion.
“Prince George’s County is such a special place,” Oluwatimi said humbly as he received the county’s recognition.
Oluwatimi, a Nigerian-American offensive lineman and center for the Seattle Seahawks, reached the pinnacle of professional football in just his second season, helping lead his team to a decisive 29–13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026.
Born in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Oluwatimi’s rise reflected both discipline and determination. A graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School football team, he developed into one of the nation’s premier collegiate linemen, earning All-American honors while playing for the University of Michigan. His dominance on the field was recognized with some of college football’s highest accolades, including the Rimington Trophy, Outland Trophy, and the Joe Moore Award in 2022.
County Executive Braveboy presented a formal proclamation honoring Oluwatimi’s achievements, emphasizing not only his athletic success but also his role as a symbol of excellence for young people across Prince George’s County. The presence of DeMatha’s football program underscored the importance of local institutions in shaping national talent.
