PGCPS To Spotlight Leadership In Sustainability At ‘Driving Green Action’ Event
The color may remain yellow, but future school buses may be running green soon. And there’s a demonstration coming up to show them off.
Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), along with elected officials, community leaders, and environmental advocates, will highlight the district’s trailblazing efforts in climate action and sustainability at a special event Wednesday, October 2.
As both the first school district in Maryland to enact a comprehensive Climate Action Plan and Maryland’s leader in green schools, attendees will see firsthand how the district is advancing sustainability, including a recent award of more than $3 million in grants from the Maryland Energy Administration to support the construction of net-zero energy schools across the district.
What to Expect:
Tour an Electric School Bus: Get an up-close look at the future of student transportation.
Explore Our Newest Net-Zero Energy School: Witness cutting-edge green technology, from geothermal and solar energy systems to innovative learning spaces designed for the next generation of environmental stewards.
Special Guests: Maryland Senator Glenn Ivey and Maryland Energy Administration Director Paul Pinsky will discuss the region’s commitment to green schools, renewable energy and low-carbon solutions.
