Prince George’s County Receives $25 Million in Grants to Launch “Proud to Charge” Zero Emissions Transportation Sustainability Initiative
We are excited to announce that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has awarded Prince George’s County $25 million in grants, with an additional $6.25 million local match, to fund the County’s “Proud to Charge” Zero Emissions and Sustainable Transportation Program. These awards will bring necessary change to the county by enhancing access to transit, improving county infrastructure, and supporting new workforce development opportunities for Prince Georgians. These are major steps to transition to an environmentally sustainable transit fleet and provide training opportunities in the tech workforce.
In addition, the county has announced the groundbreaking of The Margaux, a 291-unit workforce housing residential building adjacent to the New Carrollton Metro Station that will offer modern, transit-oriented housing at below-market rates.
