Something Unusual in Your Breasts? Alert Your Doctor Immediately
Whether you call it a gut feeling or women’s intuition, you know when something’s not right. Maybe you felt a lump while you were in the shower, or you’ve noticed your breasts just feel different. In addition to getting regular mammograms and breast exams, it’s important you alert your doctor to any changes in your breasts. The sooner you detect possible breast cancer, the better.
While it’s most likely nothing, any new lump or mass should be checked by a doctor. Other signs of breast cancer include:
Any breast swelling.
Skin irritation or dimpling.
Pain in the breast or nipple.
Nipple turning inward.
Redness, thickening or scaliness of breast skin or nipple.
Discharge, other than breast milk in pregnant or nursing mothers.
