County Board Of Health Discusses the Latest Developments Regarding Covid-19 And Fast Access To Funds
In a four-hour discussion, the county board of health discussed the latest trends of Covid-19 in the county.
Presenters to the board included Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-Dist. 5), Senator Ben Cardin (D-Dist. 3), Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Dist. 8) and Congressman Anthony Brown (D-Dist 4) April 14.
The leaders each discussed a range of topics including the disparity in Covid-19 impact on the minority community, the next wave of stimulus funding, tenant rights and protections and reclassification of frontline workers to first responder status among others.
Board members sought answers for issues that their constituents struggle with - including accessing state and government agencies and processing applications related to personal and small business support.
Representatives introduced fast access grant funds. Sen. Cardin discussed a $2.3 billion package for Maryland and talked about a $156 million stabilization fund that the county will be able to apply directly at the U.S. Treasury.
