C’mon and Bounce Into Incredible Shape With 'SocaBounce Fitness'

Meet Okeemah Henderson owner of Karnival Bounce Crew in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Okeemah has provided Prince Georgians a unique way to stay in shape since 2018.

Karnival Bounce Crew brings their students a completely unique and very fun way to achieve their fitness goals. They created a high-intensity aerobic style workout done to Soca (Caribbean) music called “SocaBounce Fitness.” However, to make it even more fun and more intense these workouts are done using spring-loaded boots called “rebound” boots. These rebound boots not only make the classes extremely enjoyable, they reduce the amount of pressure you put on your knees and other joints by as much as 80%. As Ms. Henderson stated, “Doing the SocaBounce Fitness is like working out on a trampoline, but because you are doing it to Soca music you are having so much fun that you don’t even realize you are working out and burning up to 600 calories per session.”

Because Karnival Bounce Crew was already offering some outdoor “pop-up” classes they were not deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, they are using some of their outdoor classes to help students prepare to compete in several “Carnival style” competitions. For these competitions the Karnival Bounce Crew wears full Carnival like costumes such as the peacock headbands and feather-like outfits.

The SocaBounce Fitness is great for building endurance while increasing your metabolism and is a tremendous workout for your core. According to Okeemah, new students can learn how to use the “rebound” boots in under ten minutes but have so much fun in the classes that they often return for several more hours of these high intensity – low impact dance/aerobic classes.
