Spring Forward
Don’t Let Cold Snaps Stop You From Getting Your Garden Going For The Season
By Dianne Peters
Burrrrr!!!! Spring, where are you? We desire your presence...NOW! Not that we can control anything, except ourselves, and honestly, I cannot control my self. I just dug up some Peonies, that are about two inches out of the ground, and hope they will flower this year in their new home! I also dug up Hellebores and Irises. Granted, it is not the time of year to do this, however, I've got the fever, and I'm, ready to "get this Spring party started! I'll keep you posted on the outcome of my transplanting decisions.
I planted some Candyfuft during one of those weeks of 60 degrees in February, and they are fairing well. My tulips and daffodils are coming up strong since applying Bobbex to keep the deer away.
I've decided to "help" usher Spring in now because my cabin fever is over the top! I've cleared away sticks and debris, however, I MUST get outside in the dirt....pardon me, "soil." After all, I am a master gardener. My Pansies in pots are hanging in...a little cold bitten, but okay. I want to plant Snapdragons. They can take this cold. I had some to live through Winter under a tree, so I know they can be hardy, hopefully. Long story short, I've got the fever and I'm going with it. SPRING FORWARD fellow dirt divers, excuse me, gardeners!!!
And, remember, our feathered friends....
Until next time....
