Dedication of Wayne K. Curry Administration Building
As 2017 comes to a close and the light of a New Year readies to dawn, county and regional leaders pay homage to a past great leader, Wayne K. Curry, who helped forge the way for a bright future.
Nearly 150 county leaders, dignitaries as well as friends and family of the late Wayne Curry, who served as county executive from 1994 to 2002, gathered for a building dedication ceremony naming 1301 McCormick Drive in Largo, MD The Wayne K. Curry Administration Building. Curry was the county’s first African American county executive and is widely recognized as a pioneering regional leader.
“The life of the late great Wayne K. Curry is very symbolic and represents the hope that so many Prince Georgians felt then as well as today,” said Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III. “It is fitting that we honor a man who dedicated so much of his life to raising the profile of Prince George’s County and contributing so much to its modern image. This new building, which will open in early 2018, will fulfill his vision to bring government closer to the people so that they have more access to their government. We are so proud to dedicate the ‘Wayne K. Curry Administration Building’ and honor the incredible man, his life and his legacy. It is my hope that Wayne’s work and memory will continue to inspire people for years to come.”
