Eleanor Roosevelt HS wins state title so often Maryland may shape the trophy into a Raider.
Eleanor Roosevelt Seniors Nila Scott, Ashia McCalia, Mayo Leah, Jasmine Johnson were determined to bring home another State Title. They hadn't lost a home game in their high school careers. A title was needed to capstone their time as Lady Raiders. Ashia McCalia spent the past six months perfecting her corner three knowing that it might be a game winner. In the fourth quarter against defending State Champions Catonsville, she hit the shot she had been prepared to make. As she fell out of bounds, she alone knew that ball's trajectory was accurate.
The game was still in doubt but the Lady Raiders knew then that their quest was there for the taking. Ashia will be playing for the Morgan Bears next Fall. Junior Taylor McCormick provided the tenacity to help seniors fulfill their goal. Coach Delton Fuller has a young team that will be ready to defend their title and perhaps, a 10th overall title for the Lady Raiders.
