 The City's annual event honors Dr. King's legacy through a keynote address, performances, art and a City proclamation. Every year a new theme is selected, showcasing how his work still impacts our community and our country and what we can do to continue his efforts in our current era. This year's theme is "Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere" presented by the 2019 Keynote Speaker Melvin C. High. Mr. High is Prince George's County Sheriff.

Maryland State Education Association's 34th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. This year’s theme is “90 Years: Re-committing to the Dream.” The theme will explore: the progress made in the 90 years since Dr. King’s birth and how now more than ever, we need to come together and re-commit to Dr. King’s dream in its entirety. The celebration will also be honoring the recipients of MSEA’s Minority Recognition Awards, the Dot Lloyd Women’s Rights Award, and the Reginald F. Lewis Student Art Awards.

Join the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. Prince George's County Chapter for their 7th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, January 19, 2019. The theme is "Pressing Ahead To Continue Our Journey." Look to honor and celebrate the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through tributes, song, inspirational entertainment, a powerful word from guest speakers, Minister Diamond Gantt of St. Stephens Baptist Church, Temple Hills, MD and Rev. Omari Hughes of Reid Temple AME, Glendale, MD, and a delectable breakfast to feed your belly and soul. There will also be vendors and a photography booth present to enhance the celebration.

 19th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, Baltimore

The parade commemorates the life of civil rights leader and icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 21, 2019 at noon. More than 70 groups participate in the parade including high school and community bands, honor/color guards, equestrian units, fraternities & sororities, lively dance squads and civic organizations. The parade steps off at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street, proceeds south on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and disbands at Baltimore Street. Spectators are invited to view the parade from along the route or near the reviewing stand at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Franklin Street.

Hosted by UNCF Washington and the Washington Inter-Alumni Council, the 36th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration will help send more students to and through school. Individual tickets are $75 and the events features the Rev. Delman L. Coates, Ph.D. as the keynote speaker with panelists Dr. Aminta Breaux and Dr. Charlene Dukes.

Montgomery County celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King’s life through dialogue, presentations, music, and theatrical performances at the Strathmore. The program also incorporates audiovisual elements, showcasing projected videos and photos throughout the event. Free tickets are required for this event, and will be distributed onsite the day of the performance starting at 2:30pm. All patrons must be in line to receive tickets, and one ticket will be distributed per person.
