Formation Of A New Inaugural Commission On Fathers, Men And Boys
The inaugural Prince George’s County Commission on Fathers, Men and Boys was confirmed and sworn into office recently after a hearing before the County Council and 12 commissioners were selected by County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and confirmed unanimously by the County Council.
The Commission on Fathers, Men and Boys is a new body that has been established to advise the County Executive, County Council, county agencies, and the public on issues and needs of fathers, men and boys in Prince George’s County. At-Large Council Member Mel Franklin will serve as an ex-officio member of the Commission, appointed by Council Chair Todd Turner to represent the County Council.
“We are excited about the new Commission on Fathers, Men and Boys that will work with the Commission for Women to ensure we have effective policies and programs to support every woman, man and child in Prince George’s County,” said Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. “My administration looks forward to working with all of our boards and commissions as we continue our collaborative mission to improve the quality of life for every Prince Georgian.”
The commissioners will work with county government, the private sector, and local communities to develop policies and programs that will promote a healthier impact on fathers, men and boys. Finally, the Commission will work collaboratively with the Commission for Women (confirmed earlier this year) on issues and programs to strengthen the quality of life for women, men and children.
