Something Special
Commemorative Edition Highlights Historic Alsobrooks Term
A special commemorative edition focusing on the story and growth of County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has been circulating across the county and to subscribers.
Published by Prince George’s Suite Magazine, the special edition was originally developed to spotlight Alsobrooks’ historic ascension to the office by a greater than 60% margin of the voting population in Prince George’s.
The 60-page edition offers nearly 200 images and several stories chronicling the young executive’s life and first steps into politics as a youth leader and through to her campaign for office and the inaugural weekend.
It is a beautifully designed publication with images provided by the Alsobrooks family, photographers including Alisha Adams, Amir Stoudamire, Raoul Dennis, Karen McConnell-Jones, and student photographer Marcus Johnson.
“The Alsobrooks family and the sponsors who led in the development of this special project have all been absolutely amazing,” says Dennis who is also editor of the magazine.
There were setbacks in the early production process.
“We ran into one snag after the other. Government shutdowns, tightening advertising budgets and COVID-19 threw wrenches in the works. But like any historic project, this edition is much bigger than the small setbacks that few will remember in the years to come,” Dennis says. “What the Alsobrooks Administration has accomplished in the face of the challenges that the county has endured over the past few years is what inspired leadership is all about. To quote a good friend of ours, Willie Jolley, ‘a setback is just a set up for comeback’.”
The edition includes numerous special moments such as the late Elijah Cummings of Baltimore at the Alsobrooks inaugural and early images of Angela with leaders such as Hillary Clinton.
“History may well look back on this period of time as a launch point for Alsobrooks and the county,” Dennis says. “We at the Suite are very proud to have made this contribution.”
The special edition can be purchased at Wegmans at Woodmore Town Center or order online here.
