Christmas In April Hosts Its 32nd Annual Golf Tournament To Help Raise Money For Families In Need
This event calls for a combination of the love of golf with a desire to help people and in the process, raise funds to repair the hearts and homes of 60 needy families by 2022.
The 32nd Annual Susan Mona and John Denison - Christmas in April Prince George’s County Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on September 27 at the Courses at Joint Base Andrews in Camp Springs. Over the years, the event has caught the attention of golfers at all levels. The event is already sold out this year but organizers are still in need of silent auction items and sponsors. All profits for the tournament will go towards the organization’s programs for 2023.
“This year, we’re expecting to have 160 golfers and are still seeking collection items such as products and gift cards for the silent auction,” said Mary Kucharski, Executive Director at Christmas in April- Prince George’s County. The organization is also accepting sponsorship levels at $1,500 that includes advertising and meals the day of the event, but no golf activity.
“It’s a good thing we’re sold out but really wish we could have more people participate,” said Kucharski.
Christmas in April is a volunteer organization that each year helps a select group of low-income residents with much-needed home repairs. Since its founding over 25 years ago, the organization has repaired over 2,200 homes in the county. Formally affiliated with Rebuilding Together, Christmas in April renamed the event honoring siblings Susan Denison Mona and John Denison, who co-founded the tournament and lifelong residents of the county.
Christmas in April includes Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks as the honorary chair. Community leaders and area businesses are welcome to kick in their support to help make the event a yearly success. Fees include: a buffet, cat, tee and green fees, prizes as well as refreshments.
