The Arc Prince George’s County Wins $100,000 Grant Through the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award
The Arc of Prince George’s County was chosen as one of 24 overall regional winners from around the country to receive the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award, which equals a $100,000 grant to continue the work of Ready@21 – a pre-employment training service for transitioning youth ages 14 to 21. The program provides job exploration, work readiness, post-secondary educational program counseling and self-advocacy instruction for youth with special needs.
After a region-wide media campaign in which votes were only accepted via a Chick-fil-A app on your phone, “We are honored and grateful to Chick-fil-A for recognizing our work and acknowledging the vision we have for young people with special needs. This award will help young people successfully transition from school to adult life and be Ready@21. What a great way to kick off our 70th Anniversary year,” says Rob Malone, Executive Director.
The northeast region stretched from Virginia to Massachusetts. Ready@21 Program Director, Melonee Clark says, “This award will help Prince George’s County families caring for youth with disabilities with training for parents and youth towards living their best life. We would also like to give a special thanks to the local Chick-fil-A Capital Centre & Steeplechase franchisee owner/operator Keith Singletary for the nomination and to everyone who voted using their Chick-fil-A app.”
