Prince George's Goes Pink
Alsobrooks Administration Rolls Out Campaign Of Breast Cancer Awareness Activities
Prince George’s County has launched a new initiative called “Prince George’s Goes Pink,” in collaboration with community partners who are dedicated to supporting those impacted by breast cancer. The annual campaign will raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer by hosting several events during the month of October.
While some wear pink to raise awareness, others may observe the month quietly and privately. According to breastcancer.org, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women. County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has championed for this cause as her own mother is a
13-year breast cancer survivor. Alsobrooks wants to ensure that our residents are educated and
aware of the county's programs, resources, and support. Prince George’s County has one of the highest mortality rates of breast cancer in the state of Maryland. We must change that. Challenges in education, awareness, clinical testing, early detection, and screenings are holding us back from being a County where we envision no breast cancer.
Prince George’s Goes Pink events are posted on the website here.
