Prince George’s County Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Presents Recipients With Scholarships at Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser

The Prince George’s County Alumnae Chapter (PGCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in partnership with the Delta Foundation, Incorporated held its 46th Annual Fashion Show Scholarship Benefit, “Elevated Elegance: Fire & Ice” on March 20, 2022, in-person at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland and live-streamed for virtual attendees. The event was hosted by Guy Lambert, WPGC 95.5 FM news director, FOX5 news anchor and Co-host of The Hughley Podcast, and musical entertainment provided by National Recording Artist and Washington, DC’s own Brian Lenair & Friends.

This annual event raises funds to support PGCAC’s scholarship program with the goal of assisting students financially in pursuit of higher education. During this year’s affair, 26 Prince George’s County students were awarded $85,000 in scholarships. Since the inception of the program, PGCAC has awarded more than $1.4 million in scholarships to over 650 high school and college students residing in Prince George’s County.

“I look forward to the fashion show every year,” said Miriam L. Brewer, PGCAC chapter president. “The scholarship and fashion show committees work very hard to ensure a successful event that celebrates our students for their academic achievements. It’s a rewarding experience to be able to assist our youth with pursuing their goal of furthering their education.”

Over 1,100 people attended the fashion show in person and virtually, and featured prominent local and national designers. Special guests included Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. National President and Chair of the National Board of Directors Elsie Cooke-Holmes; Prince George’s County Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II; and Prince George’s County Public Schools Chief Executive Officer Dr. Monica Goldston.

“Congratulations to the amazing 2022 scholarship recipients,” said Charlene Proctor, Esq., Delta Foundation, Inc. president. “Our youth are to be commended for their academic excellence and commitment to public service. We have the best and brightest students right here in Prince George’s County.”

This year’s program was dedicated in the memory of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. 27th National President Cheryl A. Hickmon, Ethel Rogers Grundy, PGCAC's first president and Edgar Brookins, longtime circulation and general manager of the Washington AFRO Newspaper.
