Local Sorority Awards $90,000 at Annual Fundraiser

Prince George’s County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Awards Scholarships To 29 Students

Twenty-nine high school students will be awarded and celebrated at the 47th Annual Scholarship Benefit Fashion Show & Luncheon on March 19, 2023. Hosted by the Prince George’s County Alumnae Chapter (PGCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the students who are residents in the county will be attending college with a scholarship and will be recognized at the chapter’s annual fashion show scholarship benefit to be held at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt.

This year’s theme: “22 Shades of REDiance,” is in partnership with the Delta Foundation, Inc.,who raises funds to support PGCAC’s scholarship program with the goal of assisting students financially in pursuit of higher education. Since the inception of the program, PGCAC has awarded over 1.5 million to over 670 to students who reside in Prince George’s County.

National and regional officers of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. as well as national and local public officials will be in attendance to help celebrate the students for their academic achievement and commitment to public service.

Several national and local elected officials have been invited (only County Executive Alsobrooks is scheduled to give remarks):

  • Dr. Thelma T. Daley, Immediate Past President and Chair, National Council of Negro Women, Inc.; 16th National President, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

  • Dr. Gwendolyn E. Boyd, 22nd National President, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

  • Cynthia Butler-McIntyre, 24th National President, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

The event will begin with a fashion show and feature a ticketed luncheon.
