A New Council to Help Create Economic Opportunities For Marylanders

Hoyer Meets With Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce to Discuss Regional Leadership Council

On April 5,  Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) met with members of the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce – including it's new president and CEO, Alexander Austin – to discuss his work as Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council and how the legislation passed and enacted during the 117th Congress is creating good paying jobs and economic opportunity for Marylanders.

In January 2023, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries created the Regional Leadership Council to coordinate with the Biden-Harris Administration to ensure that Americans throughout the country know and feel the positive effects of the historic laws that Democrats secured in the 117th Congress. Dem. Leader Jeffries, appointed Congressman Hoyer to serve as the RLC Chairman and to lead its mission to identify, implement, and inform.

"In the 117th Congress, Democrats secured once-in-a-generation investments in everything from infrastructure to manufacturing, public safety to public health, workforce development to research and development," Congressman Hoyer said after his visit. "Now it's time to make sure that we're laying down roads, raising up bridges and factories, lowering costs, creating jobs, and delivering on the other promises these laws represent in communities in every corner of the country – including right here in Prince George’s County.  I look forward to helping lead that effort as Chairman of the RLC and to working with community partners like the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce to make progress on that crucial mission."
