Washington Commanders Flag Football League For Youth Announced By Prince George's County Department Of Parks And Recreation

On August 17, the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, and Washington Commanders announced their collaboration to bring NFL FLAG Football powered by RCX Sports to local youth.

NFL FLAG is an NFL-licensed property of more than 1,800 locally operated leagues and over 585,000 youth athletes across all 50 states and Canada. NFL FLAG is a fun and accessible non-contact program available for girls and boys ages 5-17.

The co-ed league kicks off with a skills clinic at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex in Landover on Saturday, August 19, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event will begin with remarks from Department and Commanders leadership, NCAA eligibility staff, and appearances from the Washington Legends and DC Divas. Registered youth will participate in warm-ups, stretching, drills, and scrimmage games throughout the morning.

“We are so excited to expand our youth sports offerings focused on teaching and building confidence in the next generation of athletes in our community,” said Bill Tyler, Director of the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County. “The Commanders Flag Football League will bring newfound fun and energy to our residents that extend beyond FedEx Field. The establishment of this league is yet another way for us to make a positive impact in the lives of our youth.”

The Flag Football League will provide a fun and enriching experience for young Commanders fans ranging from pre-k through 8th grade - focused on building self-esteem, teamwork, and commitment. The seasonal program is designed for children of all ability levels, including those with years of flag football experience and those just beginning their journey.

The 2023 Washington Commanders Flag Football League will run October 1 through November 12, 2023. Games will be held each Sunday. Registration is now open through August 31 at www.commandersflag.com. In-person registration can also be completed at the Kickoff Clinic on August 19.
