Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center (FWMC) has once again distinguished itself as a leader in patient safety, earning its second consecutive “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group—one of the nation’s most respected evaluators of hospital quality and safety. The recognition, announced Nov. 13, underscores FWMC’s growing reputation as a high-performing community hospital committed to delivering safe, reliable, and compassionate care.
The top grade is especially noteworthy for Prince George’s County, where FWMC stands as the only hospital to receive an “A” in the latest review cycle. Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grade evaluates hospitals nationwide on more than two dozen evidence-based measures, including preventable errors, injuries, infections, and safety practices proven to reduce patient harm. Grades are issued each spring and fall, offering the public a transparent snapshot of how well hospitals protect their patients.
