The Prince George’s County Council welcomed two new members during a public swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, February 3. The ceremony and a reception immediately following took place at the Wayne K. Curry Administration Building, located at 1301 McCormick Drive in Largo.
Danielle Hunter was sworn in as the new Council Member representing District 6. Her appointment follows the elevation of former District 6 Council Member Wala Blegay to an At-Large seat on the Council. Hunter’s appointment fills the vacancy created by that transition and restores full representation for District 6 residents.
Timothy Adams was sworn in as the Council Member for District 4. Adams was appointed by the Council after the resignation of former District 4 Council Member Ingrid S. Watson. His appointment ensures continuity of leadership and constituent services for District 4 during the remainder of the term.
The public ceremony provides residents an opportunity to formally welcome the new Council Members and observe the official oath of office, a key moment in the county’s legislative process. County leaders have encouraged community members to attend as a show of civic engagement and support.
Following the swearing-in and reception, the Council’s General Assembly Committee is scheduled to convene at 11:00 a.m. in the second-floor Committee Room (Room 2027). Later that day, the full County Council will meet at 12:30 p.m. in the first-floor Council Hearing Room.
The swearing-in marks a full return to representation for Districts 4 and 6 as the Council continues its legislative work on behalf of Prince George’s County residents.
