A Time For Pause And Reflection
Council Chair Dannielle Glaros Issues Statement on Recent Acts of Violence
Over this past week, we learned of an apparent hate crime that killed two African-Americans, both senior citizens, at a Jeffersontown, Kentucky grocery store, just a short while after, the accused shooter unsuccessfully tried entering the locked doors of a black church. And then came the devastating news of a massacre inside a Pittsburgh synagogue, killing eleven victims during Shabbat services and wounding others, in what the Anti-Defamation League says is the deadliest attack on Jews in our country’s history. This is a painful time in America, where racism, anti-Semitism, acts of hatred and gun violence should have no place. The Prince George’s County Council offers our thoughts and prayers to families and loved ones, as we grieve for the innocent victims of senseless gun violence. We encourage all Prince Georgians to join the County Council as we pause to remember the names of these victims, learn their stories and pray for their families, communities and our nation.
