The Road Ahead
The New Council Chair Highlights Priorities
By County Council Chair Jolene Ivey
I am humbled and excited to announce that I have been unanimously voted to Chair the Prince George’s County Council for the upcoming legislative year 2024. My Vice-Chair will be Council Member Sydney Harrison, District 9. I am excited to work with Vice-Chair Harrison and the entire County Council to move our county forward together.
The children and youth of our county and our families have always been my priority, and they will continue to be as we enter this next legislative year. Everything we work towards is for the future in which our youth will be the leading players. Everything intersects, and we must be intentional in each decision and policy created to address and resource our community.
Did you know our county has the most undeveloped land in the DMV region? Identifying how to use this resource to ensure that our county is the community we can all thrive in will take honest intention, thoughtful care, and a visionary approach. It will require a unified council working for the people. Working together, we can continue to keep our county on that road to make our economy more vibrant and our communities safer.
Prince George’s County is a jewel, and I want to make sure we shine, but I can’t do it without you. I look forward to working with the community to ensure that we are intentional about the choices we make today that will create the future that we want together.
