Never Forget
Sword, Juno, Omaha, Gold, Utah: Remembering What Those Words Mean
June 6 marks the 80th Anniversary of the Normandy Landings, beginning the liberation of France and Western Europe by Allied forces.
Operation Overlord began with Operation Neptune, the largest seaborne invasion in history, often referred to as D-Day, starting on June 6, 1944, with five separate landing points over 50 miles of the Normandy coast, as the "Greatest Generation" fought their way into Nazi-occupied France.
That crucial day was the beginning of the end of World War II, and we commemorate the brave men who fought their way through the impossible, while honoring those who lost their lives in the battles that ensued.
Remember this incredible turning point in history on June 6th, and honor the men and women who serve in the armed forces of this great nation every day.
