Adams Takes Over
Newly Sworn-In District 4 County Councilmember Tim Adams Shares His First Message To His Constituents
By Tim Adams
Prince George’s County Council District 4
Tim Adams
My name is Timothy J. Adams, and I am honored to introduce myself as your newly appointed Prince George’s County Councilmember for District 4. I am grateful for the trust that has been placed in me and I am committed to listening, learning, and working hard on your behalf as we move forward together.
I previously served two terms as Mayor of the City of Bowie, where I made history in 2019 as the first African American Mayor in the city’s 138-year history. As Mayor, I led the city through challenging economic times with balanced budgets and no tax increases, supported responsible economic growth and local businesses, strengthened community engagement through listening sessions, and advanced accessibility and inclusive governance for residents of all abilities. I was sworn in on February 3, 2026 as the first Prince George’s County Councilmember to serve while using a wheelchair, demonstrating that leadership should reflect the full diversity of the community and that disability is not a barrier to public service.
I bring more than 30 years of experience as a public servant, business executive, and community leader across business, government, and philanthropy. Hearing directly from residents has always been central to my decision-making—particularly around public safety, development, economic growth, and quality of life.
In 1989, I founded Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) now located right here in Prince George’s County, a professional services and technology firm providing critical support to government and defense missions. My experience as a business owner has reinforced the importance of fiscal responsibility, economic opportunity, and ensuring accessibility and inclusion in our communities.
As your County Councilmember, I am committed to upholding trust and reliability through thoughtful action, strong advocacy, and a steadfast focus on the needs and interests of District 4 residents. I look forward to working collaboratively with city, state, county and municipal leadership, community stakeholders, and neighbors to strengthen our neighborhoods and protect the quality of life we value.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
Sincerely,
Timothy J. Adams
