Accokeek Foundation Is Cooking Up Something Special With Chef Terrance At National Colonial Farm

The concept of farm to table is remixed this time by bringing the kitchen outside and on a farm. The Accokeek Foundation is hosting a culinary demonstration with Chef Terrance, part of their Hands-on History series at the National Colonial Farm in Accokeek, MD on August 14. The event is free and will open the eyes of participants to the history of cooking with seafood.
Learn about the long history of eel and other seafood in the Potomac River and how the many cultures along the river have subsisted on seafood. Chef Terrance Murphy of ‘Meallennial Living’, a health and wellness company that specializes in juicing will be preparing a dish inspired by the traditional foods of this region using a mix of seasonal and foraged ingredients.
The Accokeek Foundation cultivates a passion for the natural and cultural heritage of Piscataway Park and a commitment for stewardship and sustainability. Established in 1958, the National Colonial Farm is a historic farm museum established by the foundation. Hands-on History, is a program series created by the foundation to showcase the skills and trades of 1770 in action, led by local experts and educators in historic costume.
The culinary demonstration takes place outdoors on the farm. Unvaccinated visitors over the age of 2 years are asked to wear masks, during the program, and all visitors are required to wear a mask inside the Visitor Center and other public buildings.
