Tyra's Testimony
Tyra Levone brings Soulful Vocals to Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club
DMV native Tyra Levone will perform songs from her debut album, Testimony – A Soul Set Free, during a Saturday evening performance at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club.
Levone, who was raised in Washington, will be accompanied by a five-piece band of local artists, while she brings her raspy, soulful vocals to support her latest material. The first single, “If Only I Knew,” is a mid-tempo meditation on love and resilience.
Like many artists, Levone’s artistic path began in church, where she sang in the choir and played piano. From there she cultivated a style rooted in African-American musical expressions such as traditional jazz, gospel, R&B, blues and hip-hop.
Locally, she’s performed with go-go creator Chuck Brown, keyboardist Marcus Johnson, and during Verizon Center events for the Washington Wizards.
