It’s not over. Even as people flock to beaches, get (to-die-for) haircuts and visit loved ones, the fact remains that COVID-19 and its impact will be with us for the foreseeable future.
How folks prepare and deal with it is the question.
The county is adjusting to the domino effect of the virus – even as DMV area residents immerse themselves in the momentum of the protest movement of a generation.
In a recent interview with Prince George’s Suite Magazine & Media, County Council Chair Todd M. Turner talked about the coming impact of COVID-19 on the county’s budget and progress next year (click here to see 2021 Budget Confirmed). He discussed the work necessary and the way the council will function differently as well.
Among the adjustments is the decision to suspend new hiring and pay raises. There are some capital improvement programs that will be held up as a result of the pandemic. Also, FY22 budget is uncertain until there is a clearer picture of the business and stability return for the county and state over the next few months.
“But there is opportunity in every situation,” Turner says. “People are already talking about the new retail reality.”
