John and June White Dillard Vartoukian, Esq. lived their lives with passion, and when they met, they became soulmates in the way they lived. They the knowledge they gained to aid the community they lived in.
June was born in 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio. She entered college at sixteen and earned her Baccalaureate and Master’s Degrees in Education. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and a specialist for special needs children. She began to study law at Howard University Law School and earned her degree Cum Laude in 1975. She passed the bar and began her legal career at the Federal Trade Commission. Shortly after, she entered private practice with offices in Prince Georges County, Maryland.
John was born in 1934 in New York City’s Washington Heights, where he received his undergraduate and Master’s Degree from the City College of New York. He moved to Rockville, Maryland after serving in the U.S. Army then began teaching high school English. He later began instructing students in writing skills at Howard University, where he met his wife June and they married in 1988.
John and June were both as accomplished alone as they were together. John, and gifted writer and lover of poetry, would accomplish every writer’s dream by having his first novel published in October 2015, “The Adventures of Sarkis and Hagop: A Fable for the Young at Heart.” June was devoted in her work to the community. Her general practice and leadership style led her to the presidency of the Prince Georges County Chapter of the NAACP as well as the presidency of the Prince George’s County Arts and Humanities Council. Her law practice and her volunteerism focused on those causes that affected the quality of life of children and their education. June was also an advocate and attorney for victims of domestic violence in St. Mary’s County.
John made his transition peacefully on January 2, 2021, and June made her transition on February 14, 2021, joining John for eternity. The NAACP will conduct the ceremony held Mar. 19 with a viewing from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., with the service at 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
