Two Prince George's County Breweries Win Maryland Craft Beer Competition
The results of the Maryland Craft Beer Competition are in and two Prince George's County breweries won gold medals!
The competition was hosted by the Brewers Association of Maryland at Calvert Brewing in Upper Marlboro, Maryland last month, where more than 200 beers were judged by 30 beer connoisseurs.
Among the 16 gold medalists, Calvert Brewing Company of Upper Marlboro won in the Amber, Dark Lager & Bock category for its Autumn Oktoberfest (Marzen), and Franklin's Brewery in Hyattsville won in the Strong Ales category for their Jack The Giant Killer (English Barleywine).

The competition's Best in Show winners will be announced on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the 3rd Annual Baltimore Craft Beer Festival at the Canton Waterfront in Baltimore. The results will be announced live on stage during the VIP hour (12-1:30 pm). Many of the breweries that competed in the Maryland Craft Beer Competition will be at the festival, so attendees can try them as part of the day's activities. Along with tastings, there will be a homebrew competition, sponsored by Nepenthe Brewing, a live band competition (Battle for the Brewskies), trivia, outdoor games, local food and yoga, sponsored by HopAsana.
