County Executive Alsobrooks Announces New Median Beautification Program And Highlights Continued Beautification Efforts

Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks held a press conference to announce the Department of Public Works & Transportation’s new median beautification program on October 16 in the Woodlawn community. This new program will revitalize medians throughout the county by planting trees, shrubs, flowers, and ornamental grasses, helping beautify nearby communities. One of the first 10 medians of the program is located in the Woodlawn community.

The exact address of the event was the Woodlawn Community Entrance Sign 4806 71st Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20784. The press conference was staged across the street from this address, in the grassy median with the large Woodlawn community sign.

The median beautification program is part of the County Executive’s overall beautification efforts. Since the start of the Alsobrooks Administration, the County has invested tens of millions of dollars in programs across government to reduce litter and beautify neighborhoods. The County Executive rolled out this new program as the County prepares for the bi-annual Growing Green with Pride community clean-up day on Saturday, October 21, which will feature thousands of volunteers cleaning up litter and beautifying neighborhoods across the County. An additional eight medians across the County are also in the pipeline for this program. Current medians that are already complete include:

  • Beltsville: Old Gunpowder Rd. & Ammendale Rd.

  • Langley Park: Merrimac Dr. & New Hampshire Ave./12th Ave.

  • College Park: Adelphi Rd. near Metzerott Rd.

  • Woodlawn: Greenvale Pkwy. & 70th Pl.
