Ride for a Purpose
County Executive Aisha Braveboy’s 6th Annual Purple Bike Ride Shines Light on Domestic Violence Awareness
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Prince George’s County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy will host the 6th Annual Purple Bike Ride on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Bowie City Hall, 15901 Fred Robinson Way, Bowie, MD.
Now a signature event in the county’s fall calendar, the Purple Bike Ride brings together residents, advocates, and families to raise awareness and inspire action against domestic and intrafamily violence. This community-centered event promotes unity, healing, and resilience—encouraging participants to take a stand for safety and support for all.
“Domestic violence doesn’t discriminate,” said Braveboy. “It affects individuals and families from every background, every neighborhood, and every walk of life. Domestic violence is no longer only about violence between intimate partners. It is also intrafamily violence. Together, we can stand against it, speak out, and break the cycle.”
This year’s event features three ride options designed for every fitness level: a 30-mile advanced ride, a 10-mile intermediate route, and a 3-mile family-friendly ride perfect for beginners and children. Walkers are also welcome to participate and show solidarity in this powerful display of community support.
The sea of purple riders—representing courage, strength, and hope—serves as a reminder that every voice matters and every action counts in the fight against domestic violence.
Participants are encouraged to wear purple, decorate their bikes, and ride with purpose. Whether cycling a few miles or the full 30, every participant helps pedal the message forward: Love shouldn’t hurt.
