Watson Enters A New Chapter
Councilmember Watson Becomes President & CEO Of Prince George’s Economic Development Corp.
After more than three decades of public service rooted deeply in the community, Ingrid S. Watson is preparing to turn the page—while keeping her focus firmly on Prince George’s County’s future.
Watson announced that she will resign from the Prince George’s County Council, effective January 16, to assume a new leadership role as President and CEO of the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation. Her transition marks both a professional milestone and a continuation of a career defined by service, collaboration, and results-driven leadership.
Elected to the Council in December 2022, Watson represented District 4 with a hands-on, constituent-first approach. Known for her responsiveness, she championed legislation benefiting seniors and vulnerable residents, strengthened protections for animals, and advanced countywide beautification and trash-reduction initiatives. She also directed critical funding to nonprofits supporting food distribution, education, scholarships, and community-based programming.
Her leadership extended beyond legislation. Watson served as Chair of the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee for two years, sat on key committees addressing education, workforce development, health, and public safety, and chaired the Accessory Dwelling Unit Task Force—roles that placed her at the center of policy conversations shaping daily life across the county.
Watson’s public service story spans 30 years and includes service on the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee, the Bowie City Council, and senior communications and government affairs roles with Children’s National Hospital and Employ Prince George’s. A Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., she also served as president of its Iota Gamma Omega Chapter.
