Prince George’s County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy joined the Prince George’s County Office of Procurement on Thursday, February 19, to officially open the County’s new Supplier Opportunities Access Resources (SOAR) Center in Largo.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house, held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 1400 McCormick Drive, Suite 136A and Room 139, marked the formal launch of the SOAR Center—an initiative designed to modernize procurement and strengthen supplier development across the County.
The SOAR Center was established as a centralized, one-stop hub for businesses seeking to work with Prince George’s County government. The center provides hands-on assistance with vendor registration, certification, invoicing, and identifying procurement opportunities. County officials said the goal was to streamline processes and make it easier for local, minority-owned, and small businesses to compete for County contracts.
Braveboy was joined by Arielle Douglas, Executive Director of the Office of Procurement, and Darlene Perkins, Deputy Director, who helped spearhead efforts to modernize and improve access to County contracting opportunities.
County leaders described the SOAR Center as a tangible investment in economic empowerment and transparency. By consolidating procurement resources in a single location, the County aimed to remove barriers that had historically limited participation in government contracting.
The launch also reinforced a clear message to the business community: “It’s good business to do business with Prince George’s County.”
Officials said the SOAR Center represented a forward-looking step in building a more inclusive, efficient, and responsive procurement system—one designed to expand opportunity while strengthening the county’s overall economic competitiveness.
