A practice-based, collaborative experience for scientists, musicians, field practitioners, and the public.
Join a practice-based, collaborative experience for scientists, musicians, field practitioners, and the public. Participants will explore communal improvised musical creation guided by a team of peers and scientists led by Grammy Award®–winning bassist/composer/vocalist esperanza spalding, alongside partners Dr. Marisol Norris and Dr. Helena Hansen.
The Co-lab will be followed by a debrief session for participants and other observers. The session will incorporate reflections and testimonies led by Dr. Hansen and Dr. Norris, and engage conference participants through an arts-based research informed feedback session. This is an opportunity to contextualize and analyze—through the lenses of various medical, scientific, therapeutic disciplines—what transpired in the bodies and perceptions of people who participated in the both formats of the group music-making sessions.
NOTE: Active participant number is limited. All participants and audience members are invited to a debrief session where the proceedings will be discussed from the relative perspective of participants.
