Lunchtime Lecture: Queer History at Historic Sites

  • Marietta House Museum 5626 Bell Station Road Glenn Dale, MD, 20769 United States (map)

June is Pride Month! Join Matt Champagne who will discuss queer history and how it is represented at historic sites. Champagne will focus on historic figures who lived before terms like ‘gay’ or ‘transgender’ became popular. The lives of famous people like Louisa May Alcott and Ma Rainey provoke serious questions about how to appropriately discuss the queer past because of the rumors that surround these historical figures and others.
