Chamber Concert and Reception

Riversdale Chamber Music is excited to present our 12th season of concerts at the Riversdale House Museum. The concert series is presented in collaboration with Riverdale Park Arts (RPA) and the Town of Riverdale Park. You will experience an up-close and personal encounter in a beautiful historic setting. The musicians will share personal stories and anecdotes about the composers and their knowledge of the music. Following the performance is a reception hosted by RPA. We hope you will join us.

Lunchtime Lecture: Queer History at Historic Sites

June is Pride Month! Join Matt Champagne who will discuss queer history and how it is represented at historic sites. Champagne will focus on historic figures who lived before terms like ‘gay’ or ‘transgender’ became popular. The lives of famous people like Louisa May Alcott and Ma Rainey provoke serious questions about how to appropriately discuss the queer past because of the rumors that surround these historical figures and others.

Contested: Historic Site of the Taino Peoples in Puerto Rico

Marietta House Museum will commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month, with an in-person talk by Edward Torres Lopez, a graduate student from Morgan State University. Mr. Torres Lopez is a native of Puerto Rico and is a museology scholar exploring the ownership issue of this hotly contested historic site attributed to the indigenous Taino tribe of Puerto Rico. This free talk will take place in the museum’s conference room.
Ages 13 & up
$5/person. Children under 12 are FREE
