White Ford Bronco: DC's All 90's Band

Long a mere dream kicking around in the overactive imaginations of its founders, White Ford Bronco officially came into being in the Spring of 2008. Since then our five member ensemble has been sparking bouts of flannel-laden, slap-bracelet-snapping, pog-playing, big-butt-loving nostalgia across the Washington, D.C. area that we call home. If you're longing for the days when Danny Tanner could solve everything with a hug and presidential scandals only involved ruining a marriage, allow us to take you on a musical journey to that magical last decade of the 20th century. Whatever flavor -- be it Alternative, Rock, Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, or Country -- if it's 90s, we'll play it. Come check out one of our upcoming shows!

Toad The Wet Sprocket with Althea Grace

Performances: Oct 4 & Oct 5 @7:30pm

Celebrating 30 years as a band, Toad the Wet Sprocket is still making music and touring with the same spirit of unwavering independence that started it all over three decades ago.

The band is thankful for the continued help and enthusiastic support of their fans, which helped spur the release of All You Want and also serves as inspiration for the band to tour and play live. They also continue to support their most recent releases, New Constellation (2013) and The Architect of Ruin EP (2015). Toad the Wet Sprocket share in the kind of musical chemistry that can only come from meeting in high school and writing, recording and touring on albums over the course time. After Bread & Circus, they followed with Pale in 1990, fear in ’91, Dulcinea in 1994, and Coil in 1997, as well as some compilations along the way. While most will still feel the comforting familiarity of the Billboard-charting hits, “Walk on the Ocean”, “All I Want”, “Something’s Always Wrong”, and “Fall Down”, fans will also be well familiar with tracks with lyrics that resonate for so many life milestones like “The Moment”, “I Will Not Take These Things for Granted” and so many more.

We Came As Romans: "To Plant A Seed" 10 Year Anniversary Tour

© Markus Felix | PushingPixels

© Markus Felix | PushingPixels

Brotherhood lasts forever. No matter what happens, those bonds endure in memories and moments. We Came As Romans hold a similar link between them. After nearly 15 years together, countless sold out shows, critical acclaim, and over 250 million streams, the Michigan quintet—Joshua Moore [guitar], Dave Stephens [vocals], Lou Cotton [guitar], Andy Glass [bass], and David Puckett [drums]—weather their darkest time and emerge stronger in the name of a fallen brother and member: Kyle Pavone.

We Came As Romans introduce this next chapter with a pair of singles, “Carry The Weight” and “From The First Note.” Evocative clean guitar echoes at the beginning of “Carry The Weight” before giving way to a hammering groove and cathartic screams that culminate on a hypnotic chant—one of the band’s most irresistible.

Meanwhile, “From The First Note” hinges on thick guitars as it delivers a fast and furious elegy. Steamrolling forward on a punk gallop, the chorus rings out, “I can’t replace you.”

In the end, the brotherhood between We Came As Romans lives on.

Story Circle: Weaving Culture and Community – Native Arts and Resilience

  • Prince George's Suite Magazine and Media (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

For many Native American communities, resilience has been key to sustaining their diverse cultures and treasured ways of life in the wake of disease, genocide, and other terrible realities wrought by centuries of colonialism and social injustice.

Join a conversation with three inspiring Native artists and cultural leaders: Siletz basket maker and language teacher Alfred “Bud” Lane of Oregon, Hawaiian musician and singer Aaron J. Salā of Hawaiʻi, and Penobscot basket maker Theresa Secord of Maine. Together they share the creative ways in which they have met the many challenges posed by the pandemic and reflect on their increased sense of urgency to be “good ancestors,” working tirelessly to pass on their cultural knowledge to younger generations in their communities and taking action to bring about positive change at the institutional level in American society.

This digital program will stream live on the Folklife Facebook page, the Folklife YouTube channel, and the Festival website.

BBMak (rescheduled from March 23)

Originally formed in 1997, BBMAK (Mark Barry, Christian Burns, and Stephen McNally) have officially reunited after a 15-year hiatus. The multi-platinum selling English pop group has sold more than three million albums and had hit singles worldwide before disbanding in 2003. Best known for their self-penned infectious guitar driven hits “Back Here”, “Out of My Heart”, and “The Ghost of You and Me”, BBMAK was one of the few bands during the pop explosion of the early 2000’s to play their own instruments and write their own songs. Billboard recently named “Back Here” the 9th greatest boy band song of all time and the band recently performed on Good Morning America in New York City. BBMAK released their new album “Powerstation” on October 11th and toured throughout in the US and the UK in the spring and fall of 2019.
