Esperanza Is Hope
Art Exhibit Celebrates Hispanic Heritage, Culture, and Hope at the Publick Playhouse Thru October 28
The arts have always played a part in celebrating Hispanic heritage and culture. This is certainly true with the exhibition Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope at the Publick Playhouse.
This art exhibit celebrates Hispanic heritage and culture through the artwork of two female artists. María Luisa Benavides, also known as Maripi, is inspired by the biodiversity and culture of her home country, Costa Rica. Using acrylic paint and canvas, the Maryland resident creates colorful paintings, often in mandala forms, that feature vivid color and intricate designs. María Brito is a painter who is inspired by the vitality of plants and living nature, often recalled from her home country of Venezuela.
The exhibit can be viewed in-person at the Publick Playhouse, 5445 Landover Road, Cheverly, Md. Mondays through Fridays, 10 am to 4 pm through October 28.
