Arts In Greenbelt
Three Options For Family And Fun with A Touch Of History and Tons Of Adventure
Art fans get ready! Here are three events that will be perfect for anyone who loves art and performance.
Greenbelt Arts Center
First is the Greenbelt Arts Center, featuring Racquel Keller. See collages by Greenbelt Recreation Arts Instructor and Artist in Residence Emerita Racquel Keller. "The Dreamweaver's Fruit" interweaves elements of reality, imagination, and dreams to create a gentle tension through the juxtaposition of the familiar and the strange. The exhibition continues through 2/29. RSVP requested (but not required) for the reception by noon on February, 22. The event will take place on Thursday, February 22, 5-7pm.
For any questions, ask at: racquel@racquelkeller.com.
Greenbelt Youth Musical: Buried Treasure
Finally, we have the Greenbelt Youth Musical: Buried Treasure at the Greenbelt Community Center Gymnasium
Join three kids as they fall down a mine shaft and find themselves on a magical, life-changing, underground adventure. In a world where dragons lurk and gnomes are real, can the students break a spell of ignorance and rescue Sophia, the Underworld’s rightful queen?
There will be four shows on Saturday, March 2, 7:00 pm, Sunday, March 3, 3:00 pm, and Saturday, March 9, 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Purchase tickets in advance ($5) at the Community Center business office, or call (301) 397-2208. Click here for more information.
New Deal Cafe
For fans of Black History, we have the Black History Month Art Exhibition at the New Deal Cafe at 113 Centerway. Enjoy a vibrant group exhibition of work by local artists, organized by Shaymar Higgs in partnership with Friends of New Deal Cafe Arts and the Greenbelt Black History and Culture Committee. This show is on view throughout February. See the Greenbelt Black History Month schedule.
