The Washington International Horse Show Returns Bringing Global Flair and Innovation to Prince George’s County

The elegance, athleticism, and international spirit of the equestrian world will once again take center stage as the 67th Annual Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) returns to the Prince George’s Equestrian Center and Show Place Arena from October 20–26, 2025.

Now in its fourth year in Prince George’s County, the WIHS is one of North America’s most prestigious equestrian competitions, drawing top riders and horses from around the world. The weeklong event highlights international, professional, amateur, junior, and child competitors — blending elite sport with family-friendly entertainment, community activities, and charity initiatives.

Opening day will feature a ceremonial welcome from Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy, who will greet French Vice President François Decoster of the Hauts-de-France region, leading a visiting delegation from northern France. Their presence underscores the growing transatlantic collaboration between Maryland and France in equine sports, science, and innovation.

One of the highlights of the week will be the international symposium “The Future is Now: Smart Tools for Horse Health – U.S. & European Perspectives on Emerging Technology.” Co-facilitated by Vice President Decoster and featuring Maryland Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Steve Connelly, the session will explore advancements in equine health monitoring, sustainable training practices, and data-driven approaches to sport horse welfare.

“The Washington International Horse Show is not only a world-class sporting event but also a celebration of innovation and partnership,” said County Executive Braveboy. “Prince George’s County is proud to host an event that elevates our region’s role in global equine excellence.”

The WIHS also highlights Maryland’s leadership in equine research and industry growth, aligning with Maryland Horse Month and the state’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare and economic development. The event’s economic impact on Prince George’s County is estimated at nearly $10 million, with more than 15,000 spectators expected from 35 states and 13 countries.

With dazzling show jumping, engaging exhibitions, and opportunities to meet world-class riders, this year’s WIHS promises to captivate audiences of all ages.
