Local Eatery Makes the Grade in Wine Spectator's Annual Restaurant Awards

By PGS Media

Wine enthusiasts are aware of the highly respected publication Wine Spectator and each year look forward to its listing of annual awardees of the world’s best restaurants offering the best wine selections. A recent release of the winners in the 2016 Restaurant Awards boasts 31 Maryland eateries, and one is based right here in Prince George’s County, MD.

The listing of awardees is long – 3,595 restaurants in 50 states and 72 countries were honored. Thirty-one are based in Maryland. One local establishment, Facci Ristorante, based in Laurel, MD was honored.

A comfortable fire wood pizza – wine bar eatery, Facci Ristorante features classic Italian dishes such as lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, eggplant parmigiana and baked ziti rigate; but there’s much more. Experience their dishes of egg pasta made in-house such as the Pappardelle Bolognese – wide egg noodles with house-made creamy Bolognese sauce or their Sacchetti Cheese Pears – pasta pocket stuffed with pears and gorgonzola cheese with demi-glace brandy sauce. Dieting? Try a dish from their “Lite & Healthy” selections:  Germano Candile  is a blackened salmon with asparagus, spinach and fresh vegetable medley; or their Via Pedecone, a whole wheat penne pasta with grilled chicken, spinach, mushrooms, balsamic vinegar sauce.

Pizza lovers flock to Facci’s for their original authentic Neapolitan pizza. Their imported wood burning oven was hand built by Neapolitan artisans and is maintained at a blistering 1000+ degrees. In keeping with the tradition, Facci’s uses only the freshest high quality basic ingredients including fresh Fior di Latte mozzarella, extra-virgin olive oil and sea salt. The dough is of imported organiz Caputo flout. Imported tomatoes from the San Marzano region provides a natural sauce. Facci’s creates 13 artisan pizzas for your enjoyment.

Facci’s also offers a weekend brunch menu and a $6 kids menu that features kid-loving chicken fingers, pizza, spaghetti, and ravioli.  And their dessert selections are decadent with a classic Chocolate Bomba, house-made Tiramisu, Chocolate Gluten-free Flourless Cake, gelatos, and a Triple Decadent Chocolate Cake for those who need their chocolate fix.

Want drinks? Facci offers wine, beer, cocktails, sangrias and other libations that are sure to hit the spot. You’ll want to show up for Happy Hour, every day between 3-6pm. Appetizers are half-off and you can get $1 off any beer, wine or liquor (except on holidays). But chances are you’ll want to try their wine. After all, it's what put them on this awards list. Whether it’s red, white, rose, sparkling, sweet or dry, Facci’s offers a wide selection of some of the best wines in the U.S. and from around the world. Ask for wine pairings for your favorite dish.

Facci’s, located at 7530 Montpelier Road, Laurel, MD,  is open daily from 11 am-10pm, and closes at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. They have a second location in Ellicot City, MD.
