Feel the Love, Enjoy the Food At National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations
You may not have been to Rio for the Games but you can catch a slice of South American culture, food, celebration without waiting on the passport lines: between Sept 15 and Oct 15, the annual recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month. La musica is only surpassed by la comida because even if you can’t keep up with Latin beats, you can always work with Latin eats. There will be dishes and culinary delights from nearly a dozen countries. With all that food, Cuban borders won’t be the only thing opening: get your mouth and palate ready for authentic tacos, delicious red beans and rice, burritos, salsa and guacamole-based treats, tostadas, enchiladas, bistec, sweet platanos and so much more. You can truly eat your way around the world—well, half way.
Don’t worry about the weight gain. Walk it off. There are no less than four events in Prince George’s and around the region totaling over 20 miles long in colorful, family oriented festival fun. We have a few events highlighted:
Thousands will flock to the annual Hispanic Festival in Prince George's County on September 18, 12-6pm at Lane Manor Park in Adelphi, Md.
Exhibit featuring Latino artist Luis Peralta Del Valle at Publick Playhouse in Cheverly, Md. from September 1 through October 31
Fiesta DC is a two-day parade and festival. Parade is September 17 at 1pm on Constitution Avenue NW (between 7th and 14th), Washington, Festival is September 18 at 11am on Pennsylvania Avenue NW (between 3rd and 7th), Washington, DC
Marc Anthony Live 2016 tour comes to EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Va. on September 30
All the festivals will feature live music and entertainment, dance, ethnic foods, arts and crafts, children's activities, vendors. Forget Rio. This is better than the gold and it doesn’t come with a raunchy swim team.
