Nevertheless She Persisted
Women’s History Luncheon Highlights Amazing Accomplishments
By Nicole Livas
It’s that time of the year again for the popular Prince George’s County Women’s History Month Luncheon. The event will celebrate and honor women in county government and their partners in public service.
This year, the program shares the national theme, Nevertheless She Persisted: Women Who Fight All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.
Nearly 1,000 women from various careers and backgrounds are expected to attend and network.
During the program winners will be announced for the prestigious Gladys Noon Spellman Public Service Award, the Gladys Noon Spellman Scholarship and the Women In Government Award. Spellman was a Prince George’s County educator who went on to serve on the Board of Commissioners and in the United States Congress. As a congresswoman, she sponsored legislation to prevent discrimination against women, the elderly, and the handicapped.
The 33rd annual Prince George's County Women’s History Month Luncheon will be held on March 15th at noon, at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD.
