Taveras Hosts Back To School With Summer Soccer Clinic

 One more big splash this summer before school begins.

 Prince George’s County Council Member Deni Taveras (D) – District 2, in partnership with the Prince George’s County Police Athletic League (PAL), the Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, and local organizations, hosted the inaugural Northern Gateway Summer Soccer Clinic (NGSSC) on August 25, at Lane Manor, Field 2, 7601 West Park Drive, in Adelphi.

  “Summer is coming to an end and we want to support our children as they head back to school,” said Council Member Deni Taveras. “This summer soccer clinic and back to school celebration is a wonderful opportunity for Northern Gateway residents, families, and children to come together, have fun, and prepare for the upcoming school year…!”

 The goals of NGSSC are to build community unity, remove barriers to local youth joining organized sports, build self-esteem, improve public safety, and connect children and families to resources. The day’s event featured a summer soccer clinic, free school supplies, arts and crafts, county resources, local food vendors, backpack giveaway and fun for the entire family. Participants also had an opportunity to register children for a free soccer league this fall.

 “The Prince George’s County Police Athletic League (PAL) is excited to be working with Council Member Deni Taveras and local community partners to offer the Northern Gateway Soccer League. The Police Athletic League is about breaking down barriers between our youth and law enforcement through positive interactions such as the Northern Gateway Summer Soccer Clinic,” said Corporal Kurt Schnitzenbaumer, PAL Executive Director.
